Description O Rosal Rías Baixas Albariño Blend by Santiago Ruiz & Rosa Ruiz, Galicia Spain Winemaker / Family: Santiago Ruiz is known as the “Father of Albariño” and is a legendary figure in the story of Rías Baixas and Galician wine. He played a key role in establishing the Rías Baixas appellation and was instrumental in introducing modern winemaking techniques to the region. Today, his legacy continues under the direction of his daughter, Rosa Ruiz, who now leads the winery and carefully balances the family’s long-held traditions with contemporary methods to preserve the distinctive character of their wines. Vineyard & Winemaking: O Rosal is the most southerly of the five Rías Baixas districts and benefits from greater sunshine and lower rainfall than the more northerly areas. O Rosal is made up of five grape varieties, with Loureiro, Caíño Blanco, Treixadura and Godello complementing the usual Albariño. Each variety is vinified separately in stainless steel before being blended together. Tasting Notes: A ripe nose of citrus fruit and dry honey leads to a multi-layered palate of lemon, pineapple and pear, balanced by vibrant stone-fruit acidity. Food Pairing: Try with gambas.
