Ecker Eckhof Roter Veltliner

Ecker Eckhof is based in Kirchberg am Wagram in Lower Austria, a village set along the long loess terrace that defines the Wagram region.  Viticulture here dates back to Roman times, but the modern landscape is shaped by small family farms working mixed crops, with Grüner Veltliner and Roter Veltliner as regional specialities. The Ecker family has farmed in the area for more than four centuries, with the current generation focusing on clean, precise winemaking that highlights the natural generosity of loess‑grown fruit. Ecker Eckhof’s Roter Veltliner is a classic Wagram expression of one of Austria’s oldest indigenous white varieties. The grape ripens late and naturally produces fuller, more textural wines than Grüner Veltliner, with a gentle spice profile. Ecker ferments it cool in stainless steel to preserve clarity and freshness. The wine shows ripe pear, quince and citrus peel with a faint floral note. The palate is rounded but not heavy, carrying the soft, creamy texture typical of deep loess. A fine line of acidity keeps it balanced, finishing with delicate spice and a clean, lightly mineral edge.
