Stoneware Medalta Medicine Hat Potteries 3 Gallon Crock Pot

Description A large stoneware crock pot from the Medalta Potteries. This crock pot is a natural stone or cream colour with the Medalta logo of the ‘Little Chief’ on the front and a number ‘3’ to indicate that it will hold 3 gallons. There is a handle either side and a decorative shaped rim. No chips or cracks have been noted but please see images. Medicine Hat Potteries designed an attractive trademark that they referred to as the “Little Chief” (collectors today often call it the “Sleepy Indian”. He had a blanket wrapped around his shoulders and was all but hidden by his large sombrero style hat. The trademark was prominently displayed on the sides of stoneware and the bottom of other products. In time, it was to become as well recognized as the Medalta name. Medicine Hat potteries made a huge array of ware including crocks up to 50 gallons, jars, jugs, churns, spittoons, pitchers, pots, bowls, plates, teapots, casseroles, artware, planters, etc. Please remember when buying vintage items, they will have signs of use but that is also what makes them so unique.
