Description Vintage Wheaton McGiver’s American Army Bitters Bottle in pink glass, with a cork stopper. The bottle’s unique shape is highly symbolic, designed to resemble a drum at the base with a shoulder and neck area featuring raised “bubbles” that represent cannonballs. These were part of a commemorative series launched by Wheaton Industries starting in 1967 to reproduce historical flasks and bitters bottles. The base is embossed with ‘Wheaton NJ’. No chips or cracks have been seen on the bottle. Please take time to look through the images. While it has the charm of a 19th-century patent medicine container, these specific bottles were manufactured by the Wheaton Glass Company in Millville, New Jersey, primarily during the 1970s. The Wheaton Glass Company, founded in 1888 in Millville, New Jersey, originally built its reputation as a major industrial manufacturer of pharmaceutical and commercial glassware. However, it is most famous among collectors for its commemorative and reproduction series launched in the mid-20th century, particularly starting in 1967. These “Wheatonware” bottles were decorative reproductions of 18th and 19th-century designs—such as historical flasks, bitters bottles, and presidential portraits—often produced in vibrant colours like cobalt blue, emerald green, and pink.
