DescriptionIn the old days, in Paris, 1970s, they’d have stands by the river selling various kinds of things, from cheap junk, souvenir ashtrays and postcards, old books, art of no little quality. Yesterday’s junk, today’s treasure. We used to send postcards: having a wonderful time, wish you were here. And: “Here, I got this for you.”What I’ve found, as I become ever more of an antique myself, is how stuff that used to make sense becomes incomprehensible. Butter churns were recognizable by everyone for decades after people stopped making their own butter. I tend to get offered the stuff in the box in the corner of the old person’s top drawer, and in there, in addition to the old coins, are sometimes these other things. If they’re small and not very breakable and have some possible interest, I put them on this website.Over the decades I’ve been selling collectibles my market has been about 97% coins, 2% paper money, 1% everything else.
